My goal was to lose some weight. Didn’t know if it would happen or not but so far so good. In about a week and a half or two weeks I’ve managed to eat salads, chicken, bananas, tuna steaks (well, one, and it was a *delight*), and etc. and with the running and brand new yoga ball I’ve lost between 2-3 pounds. Down from 168 to 165. Two years ago it was 158/159 so still a bit further to go. 3 weeks remain before moving to the house and then another 3 and a half until school starts. By then I should be looking good, I hope.
Today was an especially exciting day for my fitness. I was using my new yoga ball for an ab work out which really made me hurt. I highly recommend buying a yoga ball if you’re looking at getting in some work on the abs. Pink is probably the most efficient color to use but I went with a white one from Wal-Mart and took the cheap road. After using it, though, I looked in the mirror and saw maybe one of the more amazing things I’ve ever seen. Burried deep beneath my layers of fatty skin I could just barely make out my upper four abdominal muscles. It was like seeing an oasis. Still a lot of work to do before six are noticeable but I’m well on my way to being the first computer science major (that I know of) with a six pack. No, Joel doesn’t count… natural six packs really don’t count…
Two days in a row now I’ve run the entire length of the neighborhood from house to cul-de-sac to entrance to house. A 1.8 mile journey up some crazy hills which I never thought I would be able to run without stopping. But the human body is pretty surprising. After only a week of running I’ve increased my distances and times more than three-fold. It’s getting easier each time. I think my problem was always giving up after the first two or three days which are by far the worst.
So that’s the story of my conditioning right now — pretty unentertaining to read, I know — but I wanted to be able to come back here in a month or two and be able to see how far I’ve come. In other news life is pretty amazing :) I woke up early this morning (thanks :) (and by early I mean 9am, been a pile lately =) and got some work done. Finished up LeadershipRutherford.com, I believe, and got started on a mock design for FoothillsConnect.com as well. ExploraBots is progressing along nicely too, its just such a large project it will be a while before there is anything to show for it. Finally, the desk is about to start progressing quickly. We found a drill saw that is the perfect size for a tight fit and should go full production either Wednesday or Thursday. Pictures soon =)
Next entry I take on the London Bombings and my feelings with regard to it… just in too good of a mood for that at the moment. Oh and CHECK THESE GUYS OUT. How amazing are those baby giant pandas??? How do they work??? They don’t have eyes yet!
